Time to unwind in Oman’s ‘cool’ tourism hotspots

Muscat – The Sultanate of Oman, renowned for its diverse natural landscapes, continues to attract tourists throughout the year. As the summer tourism season approaches, visitors are expected to flock to the country’s ‘cool’ destinations, offering ideal weather and a range of activities.

Dakhiliyah governorate, particularly Jabal Akhdar and Jabal Shams, as well as Dhofar governorate and South Sharqiyah governorate, are among the top attractions for summer tourists.

These regions enjoy mild temperatures and pleasant weather, with Dhofar’s khareef season bringing refreshing rain and drizzle. Efforts are underway to enhance these destinations with activities and events catering to tourists’ needs during the summer season.

Infrastructure plays a crucial role in supporting Oman’s tourism sector, with well-established hotels available in Dakhiliyah, including eight hotels in Jabal Akhdar, two hotels in Jabal Shams, and a variety of accommodations in Dhofar and South Sharqiyah. These options provide visitors with a wide range of choices for luxurious stays.

Raia bint Salem al Maskeriyah, Assistant Director of Tourism Promotion and Marketing at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, emphasises the ministry’s focus on these destinations. Investments are being promoted to support the growing tourism movement and enrich the tourism experience, encouraging tourists to stay longer.
