Chamber releases study on reality of Qatar’s tourism sector amidst Covid-19

Qatar Chamber recently released a study on ‘The Reality of Qatar Tourism Sector in the Time of Covid-19 (Challenges & Solutions)’, which highlights the reality of global travel and the tourism sector, as well as the reality and components of Qatar’s tourism industry in terms of current legislative structure, infrastructure, and impacts of Covid-19 on the sector.

Prepared by the chamber’s Research & Studies Department, the study reviews the features and ingredients of Qatar’s tourism and the facilities offered by the State to support the sector. It also reports the contribution of the tourism industry to Qatar’s GDP and efforts being made to develop the sector.

The report further touched on the chamber’s role in supporting and developing the tourism sector and elaborated on the investment opportunities available in tourism, in addition to obstacles and challenges facing the sector. It also introduces a set of suggestions and recommendations to activate the tourism sector in the State.

According to the study, tourism is one of the most important and dynamic economic sectors worldwide, representing about 30% of global service exports worth $1.5tn. In recent decades, the report said, the tourism sector has achieved high growth rates and contributed 10.4% to global GDP ($9.17bn)
