‎Saudi Arabia to improve performance of World Tourism Organization’s executive council: Al Khateeb

Saudi Arabia aims to improve the performance of the executive council of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) after being elected as its chair, in order to enhance the UNWTO’s role and serve members’ interests, Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Al Khateeb, told Al Arabiya TV.

This will make the organization stronger and help the council’s member work in more harmony, Al Khateeb elaborated.

The Saudi minister praised the UnWTO’s efforts to promote the tourism industry, after pledging $800 billion government investments in the tourism sector by 2030.

The Kingdom will continue its support for the efforts aimed at redesigning the tourism sector, to enhance sustainable growth and efficiently face future challenges.

According to Argaam data, Saudi Arabia was elected Chair of the Executive Council of the UNWTO at its 117th Executive Session, held in Marrakesh, Morocco, to become the first GCC country holding this position.
