Dubai top city for international traveller spend



Dubai takes the top spot on the list of cities with the biggest international travellers spend in 2022, while the French capital Paris was the world’s most powerful city destination. Dubai reported $29.42 billlion spending by international travellers, while Doha (Qatar) recorded the second best with $16.79 billion. London ($16.07bn) was in third position, while Macau ($15.58bn) took the fourth place, according to new research from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). Paris takes the crown as the world’s most powerful city destination with a travel and tourism sector worth almost $36 billion in 2022, in terms of direct GDP contribution to the city. However, the report predicts it will be overtaken by Beijing by 2032. Over the next 10 years, WTTC predicts Paris will drop down to third place, although its value will rise to over $49 billion. The report, sponsored by Visa and researched in partnership with Oxford Economics, analysed key indicators such as travel and tourism sector’s contribution to GDP, employment and traveller spend.
