CAIRO - 12 December 2022: Egypt has embarked on multiple transportation projects, which has expanded its transport networks to serve the public.

Since the new means of transportation run on electricity, Egypt Today thought to provide brief information, in the below lines, on each project to understand the different between the two prominent projects: the light electric train (LRT) and the electric express train.

Light Rail Transit (LRT)

It is very similar to the metro, but it differs in the distance between stations, which ranges from approximately 3.5 km to 6.5 km between each station, as it connects new cities to each other.

The LRT operates in Egypt from Adly Mansour station, passing through the new urban cities, and the path ends in the New Administrative Capital. It has a branch from Badr City that reaches the Tenth of Ramadan City, with a total length of 105 km and 19 stations.

The first phase has a total of 11 stations, in addition to one station from the second phase, opened on July 3, 2022, to join the light electric train to the clean transport system by electric trains in Egypt, which consists of “tram, subway, monorail, light electric train (LRT), and fast electric train.”

The design
