BRCS participates in a training program in Kuwait

Miss Muyssar S. Awadhalla, Head of the Health Awareness Committee at the Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS), participated as a trainer in a training program organized by the Kuwait Red Crescent Society on psychological first aid, intending to build the capacity of volunteers and staff in providing psychological care before, during and after crises and disasters.

The training was attended by 67 participants nominated by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and the Lawyers Association in the State of Kuwait, in addition to several volunteers. The training included various psychological first-aid skills (see, listen, link), psychological first-aid values (safety, dignity, rights), self-care and peer support.

The benefit was evident by comparing the pre-test participants’ score rate of 60% and the post-test score rate of 90% when evaluating the training. The participants praised the excellent and relevant content of the training, as they recommended holding similar training courses in mental health because of its positive impact on self-care and the care of others.

Miss Muyssar thanked the Secretary-General Ms Maha Barjas, the Board of Directors, and the Director of the Medical Services Department, Mr Manhal Al-Enezi, for the good organization and hosting, and the participants for their active participation during the training.
