NGOs and survivors call for UN investigation into Beirut port blast

More than fifty NGOs and dozens of survivors of the Beirut port blast have called on the United Nations to establish an independent investigation into the explosion which took the lives of more than 200 people last August.

In a joint letter, 53 international and Lebanese NGOs, as well as 62 survivors and relatives of those killed in the blast condemned Lebanese authorities for their failure to conduct a transparent and thorough investigation almost 10 months on.
