Minister denies reports concerning termination of many Oman Air employees

H.E. Eng. Saeed bin Hamoud bin Saeed Al Mawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Air, categorically denied reports about the dismissal of large number of airline employees.

When asked about the salaries of Oman Air pilots in general, he stressed that the same is determined by the global market.

The minister, however, noted that the salaries of Oman Air pilots are different from those of other airlines, indicating that an experienced pilot would earn about RO 5,000. ?He also pointed out that 90 percent of the national airline pilots are Omanis.

He also hastened to add that the company’s current focus on debt, which, he said is more important than pilot salaries.
