National training programme for psychological first aid launched



For the first time, Oman launched the national training programme for psychological first aid under the auspices of Dr Said bin Harib al Lamki, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Health, at Al Masarra Hospital on Wednesday.This initiative, with the slogan 'A Conscious Society', aims to develop the health sector, creating a spirit of promotion and motivation among health personnel, involving them in decision-making and devising solutions to the challenges facing the health sector.The programme also aims to empower individuals with the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to provide psychological support in emergency situations and provide a response to them, through high-quality, evidence-based rehabilitation and education, where the trainer will obtain an international certificate accredited by the United Kingdom.The programme also aims to create a community aware of mental health, whose effects will be reflected positively to improve the quality of life of the individual and society.Speaking to the Observer, Ahmed al Sulaimani, representative of the hospital, said that the aim is to create a spirit of promotion and motivation among health personnel, in order to involve them in decision-making, and to devise solutions to the challenges facing the health sector in pursuance of Oman Vision 2040.Zainab al Wahaibi, pharmacist
