“The ongoing studies concerning the Muscat Metro are on track for completion by the end of this year,” Times of Oman reported, citing Saeed bin Hamoud bin Saeed Al Mawali, minister of transport, communications, and information technology.

The proposed metro line will span over 55 km and include 42 stations.

Last year marked the initiation of the financial bidding process for the first consultancy study, focusing on the phase-1 pre-feasibility of the Muscat Metro.

Additionally, the ministry has commissioned an impact study to assess the project’s socio-economic benefits for the Muscat governorate and the broader economy.

Aligned with the Greater Muscat development plan, the metro project aims to stimulate investment, enhance transportation networks and improve infrastructure.
