Qatar equestrian team training in Eindhoven for Olympic qualifiers – The Peninsula

Doha: The Qatar national equestrian team director Abdullah Al Marri yesterday said that a five-member team is training in the Dutch town of Eindhoven, under team coach Jan Tops ahead of the Olympic qualifiers.

Selected riders, Bassem Hassan Seif, Hamad Ali Al Attiyah, Saeed Nasser Al Qadi, Rashid Towaim Al Marri and Hamad Nasser Al Qadi are currently training with Tops, a former Olympic Gold medallist for Netherlands.

Ali Al Rumaihi, Qatar’s former Olympian and Event Director Longines Hathab, informed that the Qatari riders are in Eindhoven with their own horses and training indoors.

“They would be back in December for the outdoor season here and train again because the Olympic qualifiers will be outdoors,” Al Rumaihi said.

He further added that if any of the upcoming riders shows the spark and form they can hope to be among the reserves as well.

“If a rider rises to the expected level and if their horse is doing well then they can expect to be among the reserves,” he said.
