Trade, transport with Qatar could resume within a week: UAE

Gargash said Gulf states will move "very fast" on issues including reopening of diplomatic missions.







Trade and transport could resume with Qatar within a week after diplomatic relations have been restored, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Gargash said.

In a virtual briefing to the media, Gargash said Gulf states will move "very fast“ on issues including reopening of diplomatic missions.

Gargash said UAE is extremely supportive and positive about the Al Ula declaration and hope to turn a page on the Qatar crisis.

The minister said bilateral working groups between Qatar and the four GCC states “” UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait “” will also be established to work out geo-political issues.

He said since the bilateral issues of countries differ from one another, the working groups will look at and address specific issues.

But as with any crisis, Dr Gargash said, Qatar crisis has also left its residue.

"We realise that some issues are easier to fix. Some will take longer.“

The issue of resuming trade, air transportation, investment, trade and sea transport will be the easier things, the minister said, adding that issues concerning trust and confidence building
