Flight takes off from Sana’a to Jeddah after 7-year hiatus – Roya News English

A significant milestone was reached on Saturday evening as a passenger plane departed from Sana'a International Airport in Yemen, controlled by the Houthi group, en route to the city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. This marks the first commercial flight between the two destinations in seven years.

According to a navigational source at Sana'a International Airport, a Yemenia Airways flight carrying 275 Yemeni passengers left for King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, where they will be performing Hajj.

The flight signifies the resumption of commercial air travel directly from Sana'a Airport to Saudi Arabia since its closure in 2016. The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah recently announced measures to facilitate the arrival of Yemeni pilgrims through Sana'a Airport, as part of their commitment to supporting Hajj and Umrah rituals for pilgrims from all Islamic and Arab countries.
