US infrastructure consultancy firm AECOM announced it has been awarded a multi-year contract to provide project management consultancy services for NEOM International Airport (NIA).

AECOM’s scope will include project management for masterplanning, design and construction services, through to testing, commissioning, operational readiness, activation and transition, the company said.

NEOM's CEO Nadhmi Al-Nasr revealed in November a plan to establish an international airline and an environment-friendly airport.

In June 2019, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) announced the opening of Neom Bay Airport in Sharma, north of the Kingdom, according to data available with Argaam.
