UAE reopens land, sea and air routes for Qatar

The UAE News web report: The UAE will reopen all land, sea and air ports with Qatar from Saturday, January 9, according to WAM.

The move follows the re-establishment of diplomatic ties with Qatar after the four Gulf states resolved their nearly four-year-long dispute with its neighbour.

Qatar Airways restarts some flights through Saudi Arabia's airspace

Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt had cut ties with Qatar in 2017. But the US-negotiated Al Ula Declaration signed last Tuesday put a definitive end to the crisis.

UAE's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Gargash said on Thursday that trade and transport could resume with Qatar within a week.

“We are extremely, extremely supportive and positive about the declaration,” said Dr. Gargash at a virtual media briefing.

On January 5, 2020, Saudi Arabia's foreign minister announced that full ties have been restored between Qatar and the Gulf nations. The announcement came after the 41st session of GCC countries in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.
