Flydubai reports 43% rise in profit for 2022

Dubai-based carrier flydubai has reported a 43 per cent year-on-year rise in profit for the year 2022, equalling Dhs1.2bn ($327m). The airline reported revenue of Dhs9.1bn ($2.5bn) last year, rising 72 per cent from Dhs5.3bn ($1.4bn) recorded in 2021. It flew a total of 10.6 million passengers in 2022, growing 89 per cent in passenger volumes compared to 2021. “Flydubai’s record performance for 2022 is a direct result of the carrier’s strong business model as well as its adaptability and agility during challenging times which has cemented its position as a key contributor to the success of Dubai’s aviation hub,” said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of flydubai. “flydubai remained committed to maintaining the highest levels of cost and operational efficiencies while preserving and growing its workforce over the past two years.” Flydubai launched 16 routes and ended the year 2022 with a network of 114 destinations. It witnessed an increase in demand for connecting traffic, with 46 per cent of passengers connecting to its network or through its codeshare with Emirates.
