A Dubai expat is standing trial for allegedly using a forged parking permit.

The 37-year-old Arab woman reportedly used the parking permit that had been expired for six months but appeared to be valid for one year, the Dubai Court of First Instance heard. Police experts who examined the permit found it to be "totally forged".

A parking inspector told the prosecutor that he was checking cars near a building at a parking zone in Al Khail area when he spotted the accused's vehicle. "There was a car that had a parking permit ticket which did not look right," he said.

The inspector then called the Roads and Transport Authority's operations team and learnt from a staff member that the permit number was correct. "The permit number was correct but the permit itself had expired six months earlier. However, the ticket bore a validity period of one year. I reported the incident to the police."
