UAE’s daily air traffic hits all-time high on first day of Cop28

Al Maktoum International Airport recorded the highest number of scheduled and unscheduled flights, such as private and business jets, on the first day of the conference, Saif Al Suwaidi, director-general of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) told the UAE state-run Wam news agency.

Day one reported the highest daily air traffic rate in the UAE’s civil aviation history, with 2,848 flights.

The GCAA did not specify if the 15 percent increase was compared to the same period last year or the period imediately before the start of the climate change conference.

“They launched a dedicated electronic platform to control air traffic and closely monitor incoming flights with air traffic administrations in neighbouring countries,” Al Suwaidi said. UAE’s daily air traffic hits
