Ministry of Labour negotiates with 90 companies to not lay off over 21000 people | Times of Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Labour negotiated with more than 90 companies to reverse the decision to lay off workers or deduct salaries during the first quarter of this year. According to the Ministry of Labour's 1Q report, more than 21, 000 citizens were able to maintain their job stability and avoid being laid off or cut off their salaries after conducting negotiations with the companies they hold. The details of the report published by the Ministry stated that it negotiated with 58 facilities to prevent the lay off of 16, 671 Omani workers working for them, and that it managed to maintain the work of 15, 386 of them. With regard to the ministry's negotiations with establishments that want to reduce the salary of their employers, the ministry negotiated with 33 establishments employing 9, 212 Omani workers and was able to persuade the establishments not to reduce the salaries of 6, 142 of them. The number of complaints received by the ministry within three months reached more than 4, 600, of which 1010 were referred to the court, and the ministry was able to settle 911 of them amicably.
