Oman’s COVID-19 infection rate per million one of the lowest in GCC countries – Times of Oman

Muscat: Oman's COVID-19 infection rate per million population is greater than that of the countries that have the highest number of cases around the world.

According to data from the World Health Organization, Oman's rate of infection for every one million people stands at 9,346 cases. Although the US, Brazil, India and Russia have more people infected by COVID-19, their rates of infection for every one million people is lower.

However, in the GCC, Oman's rate of infection per million is among the lowest. Qatar looks to have the highest rate per million in the world, at 34,829 cases. Bahrain's rate per million is 17,521. In Kuwait, it is about 11,857 per million. Saudi Arabia and the UAE are the two countries in the region where the rate of infection per million is lower than Oman's.

The rate of infection in Saudi Arabia is 6,138 per million, and 5,264 per million in the United Arab Emirates.
