Texas, Montana Lead 21 GOP-Run States In Suing Biden Admin Over Keystone XL Suspension

Share to Linkedin Texas and Montana led 19 other Republican-governed states in suing President Joe Biden and his administration over his decision to revoke the permit for the Keystone XL oil pipeline in the latest legal challenge mounted by GOP-led states against Biden's agenda on climate change and the environment. The lawsuit filed on Wednesday in a Texas Federal court also names Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and several other cabinet members. In the complaint, Ken Paxton and Austin Knudsen“”the attorneys general of Texas and Montana“”argue Biden does not have the unilateral authority to change energy policy which has been set by Congress. Many of the states participating in the lawsuit are not near the proposed path of the pipeline, but are concerned the decision to block the pipeline may create "a ripple effect" which adversely impacts them, NBC News reported.
