Insufficient space in govt schools; Lack of desks, chairs cited – ARAB TIMES – KUWAIT NEWS – Arab Times Kuwait News

KUWAIT CITY, March 10: Some educational districts said the number of students in the three academic stages in schools under their supervision has exceeded the highest limit, in addition to the lack of furniture, reports Al-Rai daily quoting a source from the educational sector. According to the source, the number of students in some classes reached 20 per group. This means the number of students once the face-to-face classes resumes will be 40 per class – a number that is unacceptable for government schools, the source asserted.

The source attributed this problem to the decision to suspend the opening of new schools in some residential areas due to the Corona crisis and lack of furniture in the Supply Department, which has already exhausted its stock. He stressed that the negative repercussions of the pandemic for the Ministry of Education will continue until the next academic year (2022-2023); coinciding with the supervisory authorities’ approval of educational tenders, such as the supply of furniture, sanitation, maintenance, security, food and transportation. He said these tenders are vital for the smooth operation of schools.
