Nurses Lobby For New Mandates & Taxes That Make It Easier To Unionize, Inflate Health Care Costs

When tax increases are introduced in any state capital, it’s not uncommon to find the nurses union supporting the hike and even spending money to lobby for it. The nurses union, for example, is now lobbying for the $163 billion annual tax hike proposed in California this month to fund a single-payer health care system in the Golden State. That nurse-backed tax increase, which would double tax collections in California and give the state a top marginal income tax rate of 18.05%, would be the largest state tax hike in U.S. history. When they’re not backing tax hikes, nurses unions can often be found lobbying against legislation that provides tax relief.
