Shura Council discusses draft law on temp expropriation, seizure of real estate

The Shura Council held Monday its regular weekly meeting, under the chairmanship of HE the Speaker of the Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim.

At the beginning of the session, the council praised the high level of organization and the success of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021, hosted by the State of Qatar for the first time.

The council considered this tournament an ideal opportunity to improve the preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, noting that this achievement was the culmination of sound planning, national will and comprehensive strategic vision that were laid down by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

The Shura Council then discussed a draft law on the temporary expropriation and seizure of real estate for the public benefit. After extensive discussions of its provisions, it decided to refer it to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee and the Services and Public Utilities Committee of the Council.
