‘The Golden Talent’ attracts 1982 entries

Muscat – Following the launch of a digital competition in search of ‘The Golden Talent’ by Sayyid Khalid bin Hamed al Busaidi last month, a total of 1,982 submissions were received during the initial 3-week application phase via a custom-built website.

The competition aims to showcase the most talented and artistic individuals in Oman whilst also providing a platform for more unusual talents.

Sayyid Khalid, who is now personally reviewing all the submissions and filtering the best to move to the third stage – the Social Media Knockout round, said, “I’m really delighted that the money raised via SMS voting will be donated to the UNICEF youth training programme which has been launched in Oman in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MCSY) and the private sector. It’s an innovative approach to develop young people’s resilience and skills and to promote social entrepreneurship in Oman, which I am happy to support.”

SMS voting will be used to allow the public to participate and vote for their favourite contestants. In an exciting development, money raised will be donated to UNICEF which will use it to fund youth training programmes in Oman. To encourage voting, all voters will enter a weekly raffle
