Vibrant private sector crucial for boosting Mena’s labour market, World Bank says – The National

Ensuring the private sector can access markets freely and compete with government-run businesses more effectively are crucial for sustainable job creation the Middle East and North Africa region, according to a recent report by the World Bank.

The region requires a more “vibrant” private sector as well as regulatory reforms for the labour and product markets, the Washington-based lender said on Monday.

“Governments must reshape their relationships towards the private sector, towards workers, and, equally important, towards women," Ferid Belhaj, World Bank’s Mena vice president, said.
