Over 280 schools, KGs participate in ministry’s Reading Week activities – The Peninsula

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has concluded the activities of Reading Week, which was organised by the Curriculum and Learning Resources Department in the Educational Affairs Sector in Schools and Kindergartens.

The activities of Reading Week were held as part of the celebration of the Arab Library Day, which falls on March 10 each year, and World Book Day, which falls on April 23.

Reading Week, organised annually by the ministry, aims to spread awareness of the importance of books among students and contribute to instilling the habit of reading from a young age so that it becomes part of the components of their personalities and encouraging students to attend learning centres and benefit from their services.

It also aims to motivate and encourage students, schools and the local community to read. More than 280 kindergartens and schools participated this week, during which they presented many distinguished internal and external activities. The number of activities presented was about 231. Reading Week included various activities, such as discussion panels on a group of books, student meetings, cultural competitions, poetry recitation, workshops, and plays.
