How To Fix The Covid-19 Vaccine Rollout

This segment of What's Ahead focuses on the deadly mistakes Washington and state governments are making in the distribution of Covid-19 vaccines and on what President Biden can do to fulfill his promise of 100 million vaccines administered within his first 100 days in office.

Shots should have first been administered to true frontline caregivers and to those most vulnerable to succumbing to this dread disease. Instead, too many states adopted convoluted procedures that led to mortal delays and waste. When states abruptly changed course, shortages resulted.

One crucial thing our new president must do is to have the FDA get off its bureaucratic duff in approving the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine, which has been safely and successfully administered in Britain, India and other countries for weeks and doesn't have the refrigeration-storage challenges of the two vaccines currently being used in the U.S.
