UPS Donates $1 Million In Covid Aid To India, Joining Corporate Giants Including Fedex, Google And Amazon

Share to Linkedin The UPS Foundation pledged $1 million in emergency funding and aid to India on Wednesday, joining several private companies and nonprofits that are donating millions of dollars and medical supplies to India as the country is ravaged by a Covid-19 surge. The UPS Foundation will coordinate with UNICEF, CARE International, The Salvation Army and other organizations to ship emergency medical supplies, Covid-19 testing equipment and protective gear to India. UPS has approximately 1, 000 team members in India, according to a spokesperson for the UPS Foundation. FedEx, the world's other shipping giant, announced last week it would commit $4 million in cash and "in-kind transportation support" to help nonprofits reach "underserved communities with the Covid-19 vaccines around the world." Amazon announced Wednesday the company would begin delivering 1, 000 ventilators to India, and Amazon would fully fund the first 100 ventilators arriving in the country, which the company said cost a total of $3. 8 million. Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced in April the company would donate $18 million to India and Microsoft said it would work to provide India with 1, 000 ventilators and 25, 000 oxygen concentration devices. A Houston-based religious nonprofit, Sewa International, fundraised
