MoPH reports 126 new Covid-19 cases, 140 recoveries

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) reported today 126 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 during the past 24 hours, and recorded 140 recoveries from the virus, bringing the total number of cases recovered in Qatar to 364,919.

In a statement, the MoPH said that 117 of the new confirmed cases are among community and 9 cases among travelers. It pointed out that 6,832,088 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered since the start of the vaccination program, adding that 7,436 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the past 24 hours.

The ministry further added that 1,585,523 Covid-19 booster vaccine doses have been administered to date, explaining that 89.5 percent of the total population are now fully vaccinated with two doses.

In its statement, the MoPH explained that there is clear evidence of the protective effects of the vaccines and the majority of patients being admitted to ICU with Covid-19 are either unvaccinated or had their second dose more than 6 months ago and have not received a booster dose.

It also noted that the latest evidence shows that the country has passed the peak of the third wave of the pandemic, as the number of daily new cases of the virus
