Pacemaker implanted into heart nerve successfully in Oman

Muscat: The National Centre for Cardiac Medicine and Surgery at the Royal Hospital succeeded in implanting a pacemaker in the left heart nerve of three patients.

The surgery was the first of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman.

This innovative technology is distinguished for better serving heart failure patients, due to the fact that it is less complicated and more effective.

The pacemaker cable, implanted in the upper ventricular septum, was inserted in the left nerve bundle and then connected to the pacemaker device placed under the skin.

This surgery constitutes a step forward in the Centre’s ongoing efforts to provide the best healthcare to patients using the latest technological developments.

This technology, now applied in three cases, proved to be efficient in improving heart functions and the quality of life of patients. It scheduled a standard operation in the future.
