While remote working started out as a temporary measure to curb the spread of coronavirus a-year-and-a-half ago, it has since changed the nature of work as it proved to be successful and employees were quick to embrace the flexibility it offered them, said Tim Martin, managing director of design firm Gensler Middle East.

“A lot of people were thinking it was going to be the end of cities, but now it’s all about workers wanting to make the decision on how and where they want to work, be it in a city or a rural area. The big thing we are seeing is that it is this choice that people really want and it is making companies relook at their policies,” said Martin.
