FDI totals RO22.9bn at end of Q3 2023

The volume of foreign direct investment in Oman at the end of the third quarter of 2023 reached RO22.961bn.Muscat – The volume of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Oman at the end of the third quarter of 2023 reached RO22.961bn, according to preliminary data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information.

The oil and gas sectors accounted for 76.9% of the total foreign investments, with a total value of RO17.672bn.

The value of foreign investments in the converting industries sector at the end of the third quarter of 2023 amounted RO1.406bn, while financial intermediation activities garnered  RO1.53bn and real estate, leasing and commercial activities received RO1.035bn.

FDI in various other sectors stood as follows: electricity and water received RO466.3mn, transport, storage and communication garnered RO361.9mn, trade RO216mn, hotel and restaurants RO111.4mn, construction RO82.1mn and other activities RO78.9mn. In terms of source countries of FDI, the United Kingdom led with RO11.521bn, constituting 50.1% of the total foreign investments, followed by the United States of America with RO3.881bn, the United Arab Emirates RO1.275bn, Kuwait RO922.3mn, Bahrain RO732.6mn, China RO594.5mn, Qatar RO442.3mn, the Netherlands RO374.7mn, Switzerland RO288.3mn, India RO277.8mn and other countries RO2.65bn.
