The “Coral Bridge” will serve as a vital communication link between Aqaba, Jordan, and Taba, Egypt, Ahram Online reported.

The submarine cable, spanning the Gulf of Aqaba, will enhance Egypt’s geographical competitiveness as a key international transit point between the east and west. Jordan will gain as a primary transit point for the Levant, Iraq, and Gulf states.

The project aligns with Egypt’s initiatives to bolster its international digital infrastructure and status as a regional data corridor, Egypt’s communication and information technology minister Amr Talaat said.

The project cost was not given.

Egypt has invested more than $600 million in developing the network of internet submarine cables, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat said in October 2023.
