NBK’s new HQ earns LEED New Construction Gold Certificate

Kuwait’s largest financial institution, the National Bank of Kuwait’s (NBK) Headquarters in Kuwait City has earned another achievement by obtaining the LEED v2009 for New Construction Gold-certified status from U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

The NBK headquarters is the first LEED Gold certified building in Kuwait under LEED v2009 Certificate, with a building design approved by the USGBC. It is the third-largest building in the MENA region to receive this certification and the top 2 percent of the largest buildings in this category.

This achievement shows the NBK’s commitment to adopting the highest ESG standards and redefining Kuwait’s building concept. The Bank joined with leading institutions around the world in adopting green building and sustainability practices.

NBK’s building is Gold Certified with a total of 67 points. It reflects the Bank’s commitment to adopting the most sustainable standards and its steps to reduce its environmental footprint by creating this ideal model for construction in Kuwait.

On this occasion, Mr. Isam Al-Sager, Group CEO of National Bank of Kuwait stated that “By receiving this prestigious certificate, NBK demonstrates the progress it is making in achieving the strategic pillars of sustainability.”
