Addressing concerns raised on social media regarding this development, the EA clarified that the Turtle Reserve in Ras al Hadd, established under Royal Decree No. 25/96, is a natural reserve, and the authority is dedicated to preserving its biodiversity.

The measures – for the protection of turtles – were taken as per the existing laws and regulations.

The EA explained that the wooden pillars do not hinder pedestrian access to the beach but are intended to prevent vehicle entry, and thus reduce beach vandalism and nest destruction.

‘The distance from the parking area to the beach is minimal and easily traversable on foot. Additionally, the site of the work does not involve any fish landing activities,’ the authority argued.

The choice of wooden pillars is a safe, eco-friendly solution employing natural materials that blend seamlessly with the beach’s natural beauty, it added.
