UAE’s 2.1 GW photovoltaic project achieves Full Capacity Power Generation

Energy China Hunan Thermal Power announced in a statement that the 2.1 GW photovoltaic project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, has achieved full-capacity grid-connected power generation.

The project is located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, with a total photovoltaic installed capacity of 2,100 megawatts. Equipment installation in the high-voltage area of the step-up station, installation of equipment in the photovoltaic area, laying of DC cables, and commissioning of the entire system are executed by Energy China Hunan Thermal Power.

This project is Hunan Thermal Power’s first photovoltaic project in Abu Dhabi, and it is also the largest single solar power station overseas that Hunan Thermal Power participated in. The project is a milestone project in the field of green energy under the “Belt and Road” initiative. After the project is completed and put into operation, the power generation capacity will be able to meet the electricity demand of about 160,000 UAE households, reduce carbon emissions by more than 2.4 million tons per year, and increase the proportion of clean energy in the UAE’s total energy structure to more than 13%. The sustainable development of the UAE national energy economy contributes to the strength of Chinese enterprises.
