CPA launches free vehicle inspection drive

Muscat – As part of its efforts to protect consumers and the lives of drivers from faulty vehicles, Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) on Sunday started free inspections of vehicles from certain makers in the sultanate.

The initiative is part of the national campaign – ‘It is not possible to delay’ – to recall faulty vehicles.

The launch of the Free Vehicle Inspection drive was held under the patronage of H E Dr Bakhit bin Ahmed al Mahri, Undersecretary for Higher Education in the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation; and in the presence of Salim bin Ali al Hakmani, Chairman of CPA, besides a number of officials.

The initiative will run till October 6, CPA said.

Under the initiative, vehicles from companies such as Honda, Subaru, Chevrolet and Hyundai, will be inspected free of cost. Cars will be checked from 4pm to 7pm at the National College of Automotive Technology (NCAT) after owners book their slots at https://ncatoman.simplybook.me/v2

In August this year, CPA had launched the two-month long national campaign ‘It is not possible to delay’ with an aim to enhance coordination among various government and private agencies, which may eventually reduce traffic accidents resulting from vehicle manufacturing defects.
