Nobody predicted that a pandemic would cripple the city and the world one year after that opening. Covid closed The Shops at Hudson Yards just a few days after its first birthday and it remained shuttered for the next six months. But as Covid cases decline and vaccinations increase, Hudson Yards is eager to "welcome back" shoppers, workers, and visitors. There will be no second anniversary celebration but the shopping complex is in a relatively much better position this year than last, despite the loss of its original anchor retail tenant.
